Hedy Fischer + Randy Shull
Hedy Fischer and Randy Shull live in Asheville, NC, and have collected contemporary art for over 20 years. The artists in their collection work in photography, painting, wood, ceramics, metal, and mixed media and come primarily from the United States, Latin America, and Europe. Both Shull and Fischer work closely with several galleries and museums regarding their collection and are passionate about the cultural importance of collecting contemporary art. Recently, the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh, NC, featured works from the Shull-Fischer collection in the exhibition “Limited Visibility.”
They have played major roles in Asheville’s creative community. Randy Shull, himself an artist, works at the intersection of architecture, landscape design, furniture design and painting. He was recently chosen to redesign Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center in downtown Asheville. Together, Shull and Fischer helped begin the revitalization of Asheville’s River Arts District by co-founding Pink Dog Creative, a former textile warehouse that is now a vital mixed-use artists’ studio complex.
