Dance artist Constance Humphries presents a screening and discussion of her work and the issues, possibilities, limitations, and audience for dance/performance for screen. The event is a donation/pay what you want opportunity to support The MAP and it's innovative and vital programming for our community. Constance Humphries is a dance artist and educator who works with butoh dance, performance, video, sound and costume to create works and workshops which, through the lens of vulnerability, explore the political, spiritual and psychological potential of the self while challenging the perception of self.
Humphries has presented her performances, videos and workshops internationally, including Mexico, the US, and the UK. Her most recent projects include the Just Gather Film Festival, Edinburgh (2015) and the Arts Emergency Rescue Centre Event at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Newcastle (2015). She was awarded a residency at Experimental Studios, Newcastle (2014-15), served as curator for performance at Breeze Creatives, Newcastle (2015), and is premiering three new works at Abject Gallery, Newcastle (2016).
