Laurie Corral is founder, owner and director of Asheville BookWorks, Asheville, NC, USA. Laurie holds degrees from West Virginia University, University of Illinois and Cranbrook Academy of Art. Prior to opening Asheville Bookworks, Laurie worked as Education Director at the Hickory Museum of Art, Hickory, NC and as Director of Signature Studio XI, a workspace / gallery supporting artists with disabilities in Morganton, NC.
Asheville BookWorks was launched in 2004. ABW fosters a vibrant book arts and printmaking community, where knowledge and discourse is cultivated through independent practice, guided workshops, exhibitions, and events. Each aspect and episode of Asheville BookWorks conveys an appreciation of creative innovation and the hand at work.
Laurie recalls being an avid book lover from childhood and the feeling of holding a Beatrix Potter book that ‘fit her hands.’
