Doors at 7:30

Screening begins at 8:00pm

The Media Arts Project and Revolve present the Frame + Form | Screen Dance Festival. The only of its kind in Asheville, this festival features dance that is created specifically for film and video. Screen dance is an interdisciplinary genre and crosses the disciplines of dance, performance, visual art, cinema and media arts. This festival celebrates dance for camera and explores the relationship between the two. MAP is excited to offer a platform to highlight the choreographic structure in film and encourage experimental dance film makers. The evening’s program is an exciting collection of national and international contemporary short dance films. Following the screening, the audience can join an open discussion about screen dance and the evening’s offerings.

The Media Arts Project’s mission is to support artists working in digital and new media platforms. This includes works that require the passage of time or an experiential component, such as installation, video and sound art. The MAP aims to create a dialogue around the temporal or ephemeral aspects of the art experience. The MAP promotes discussion around relational aesthetics, digital art and new media through events and opportunities for artists working in non-object-based disciplines.
