Emmalee Hunnicutt explores the subtleties of sound with her inventive cello playing. Classically trained from a young age, she brings an intimate understanding of the cello to her compositions and improvisations. Working in the realms of texture and emotion, her work acknowledges the mysterious nature of art and life. In addition to writing and performing as a solo artist, she is also part of a number of collaborative projects including Mountain Bitters and Library of Babel.
Foenix Culpa is an evolving sound experiment formed by Will Franke based out of Asheville, NC. Will seeks to push the boundaries of the violin with a unique electro-acoustic sound. Anything from psychedelic folk and rock to experimental classical and world music may emerge out of each unique live performance. Will plays two violins--an electro-acoustic violin and a special cello-ranged instrument dubbed the "wub fiddle." He is able to loop them together while celebrating the elements of both improvisation and composition in a mind-expanding blend of hypnotic energy.
Will has played the violin since childhood as well as the sitar for the last decade. Will won a scholarship to study sitar in India in 2012, and since returning, he has dedicated himself to learning, performing, and teaching music in its many diverse forms. Will has lived in Asheville, NC since 2015.
